Four days Travel Melbourne (2/4), Port Campbell National Park

I would suggest staying at least one night around Port Campbell National park as there would be a little time to visit some lookouts if only one day trip takes place. Our plan is to visit Loch Ard Gorge, London bridge as well as 12 Apostles again.

LOCH ARD GORGE

Loch Ard Gorge Port Campbell National Park Australia

It was still windy since yesterday, but sunshine was slightly available today. There are stairs allowing us to access beach surrounded by cliffs. Again I felt impressed with severe conditions such as strong wind, wave which could have been making this kind of landscapes. It is really worth visiting because only photos cannot convey the atmosphere and impressions.

There appeared to be several walk ways in the Loch Ard Gorge area but due to limited time we visited only a couple of viewing points. I should have looked into information/websites in advance as actually 1 hour is not enough to see most of places.

We had breakfast at a cafe Forage on the Foreshore in Port Campbell because it is located between the Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge where we are going to go.

However only one man in the cafe was managing at 9:00, such situation made him very busy and we needed to wait 30-40min. to get food and drinks.. I think the cafe’s quality is good, but we were unlucky..

Our route taken was as below,

LONDON BRIDGE

London Bridge Great Ocean Road

London Bridge is an arch formation made by erosion process. It was double arches until 1990 but one arch had collapsed at that time. I wonder how such nature will create next shape of those rocks but beautiful works will keep attracting people for long years, sure.

12 APOSTLES AGAIN

Since we have got blue sky though it is partial we returned to 12 Apostles. The lookouts can be accessed through 10-15min. walk from the Visitor centre therefore please secure adequate time to enjoy viewing.

Magnificent view must be waiting for your visit.

RETURN ROUTE TO MELBOURNE

Because we were supposed to return our rental car back by 3:00PM, we opted to drive back to Melbourne via A1 route rather than along the Great Ocean Road. It was much faster and if you do not need to return through the Great Ocean Road it can be an option.
