Fantastic Shoes, New Balance M1300 and M1400

I’ve been with New Balance M1300CL made in USA for about 8 years since 2009. M1300 is one of the New Balance Flagship models which is equipped with ENCAP midsole that provides excellent cushioning and stability.

It’s very comfortable, and is said that “like walking above clouds”.

I enjoyed travels with the M1300CL when it was expected to walk a lot. The shoes made my travel comfortable and supported me in enjoying activities. (A photo below was taken at Kings Canyon in Australia.)

Serious Damage Between at Sole

Unfortunately the time has come to be faced with serious damages around its sole. Due to properties of Polyurethane midsole, it is inevitable that the material starts degrading after several years regardless of whether you wear it or not.

It is sad to say good-by to such excellent shoes that have been supporting me, but I decided to replace the M1300CL with new shoes.

I have chosen New Balance M1400 Off White color as a successor of M1300 because of the following reasons.

  • I did not want to compromise on quality and good cushioning
  • I wanted to try another model of New Balance shoes
  • “made in USA” model is must-requirement for better foot-comfort

Like M1300, classic-style-looking is applied to M1400 as well. It goes well with a wide range of fashion styles.

Comparison between M1300CL and M1400

Let’s compare the two flagship models. I always try before purchasing shoes in order to avoid selecting wrong size since different models have different shape. It’s very important to select a proper shoes size, otherwise you will eventually feel pain in your foot then will need to part with the wrong-size shoes.

1. Size I chose

M1300CL / Width : D / size : US7.5 (25.5cm)

M1400JWH / Width : D / size : US8.0 (26.0cm)

The Flat Head Denim Jacket 3rd model 6003W

The Flat Head has been producing high-quality denim products. In particular it is famous for intense vertical-falling fades.

I have a 3rd type denim jacket of the Flat Head, named 6003W.  (14.5oz denim)

Unlike other jeans, frequency in use is not much. Still dark Indigo blue remains.

I purchased the denim jacket 10 years ago. A reason why I choose it was because small size (34) was available at that time, which fits me as I was looking for slim silhouette model.

I prefer turning its collar up when wear it.

Though it will take time to get faded further due to low frequency of wear, I will keep wearing it and report its fades.

The Flat Head’s vertical fading

As I mentioned earlier, the Flat Head denim will show intense vertical falling fade over time like below. (it is another TFH denim I have.) I really look forward to seeing cool fades in the future.

Fullcount 1109 Narrow Straight Jeans Fades report 1

Fullcount & Co. provides us with high quality jeans that have comfortable and relatively soft denim but end up with natural and fantastic fades if we keep wearing.

Fullcount 1109 is a slim fit jean made from a 13.75 oz selvedge denim which is 100% zimbabwe cotton.

A phrase “Shrink to fit” is applicable to Fullcount jeans. It means that the jeans shrink approximately one size when washed. You wear it then it will be stretched over time. After wearing a certain period, you wash it then again the jeans will shrink. Repeating this cycle will eventually make the jeans good-fit to you.

I suggest that you try one-wash-jeans at shop in order to know what the best size is considering after-wash-condition, particularly when you buy a slim jeans because of less allowance.

Length adjustment is also an issue when you purchase raw jeans. Denim shops could advise you on how long the raw jeans will shrink after the first wash however it cannot be so accurate. I usually have the raw jeans cut at slightly longer length considering shrinkage at the first wash. In case the shrinkage is shorter than expected then cut it again.

In this report about Fullcount 1109, I share photos taken before the first wash and 3-4 years after.

As raw denim is too hard for me to start wearing and size is not just-fit, I always get it washed at first.

As of 2017

I have been wearing the jeans when temperature is low so that the denim does not soaked with sweat. This is aimed at reducing the number of washes in order to get sharp fades.

Data between the first wash in 2013 and 2017

The number of wash : 2

Frequency of wear : once a week

Thanks to its narrow silhouette, the jeans have got sharp fades around the waist and knees.
